  • Fascinating trip underground

Took family as a stop off trip going north good place for lunch food good and not overpriced. Free admission into museum but a small charge for underground trip is well worth paying. Mick our guide was very informative about mining along with his experiences. Tip for you leave anthing with a battery in it in the car,not allowed to take underground. Fantastic experance for us all to go down a proper pit!

  • Local gem.

Another brilliant trip today with our two children (6 & 10).

The adventure playground has been added since our last visit which is a real asset.

You simply must take the underground tour - the guides (ours today was Martin) are exceptional and take you on an incredible journey through time and the social history of our country.

Thank you for a fab day out!.

  • Cracking tour

Had a couple of hours free. We arrived parked the car (free) but gave a donation. We signed up for the mine tour 140m underground. What a fabulous tour. 1 1/4 hours underground with an ex miner (Ian) as our guide. Very knowledgeable and funny. You could easily spend a day there. And it's all free!!!
    Donations asked for.

  • Nature trail

Only did the nature trail today with our dogs, absolutely beautiful walk, took about an hour as a leisurely stroll, lots of red bins available and it would be great for a picnic. A bit muddy in parts so wear sensible shoes.

  • Superb Family Visit

Went as a family group ages 5 and 8 year old children, their parents and us their grandparents. What a superb time was had by us all .The mine trip was an experience was suitable for all and we all learnt something .The guide called Steve was a character and answered questions expertly. The café has reasonably priced meals and the shop has pocket monied priced souvenirs .The little ones were then able to let up steam on the adventure playground.
