  • Relaxing Tranquil Weekend Break

My husband found this beautiful little gem and booked a night away for our anniversary. Before we arrived Andy the owner messaged me details on parking and arrival times which was great. On arrival this stunning period property reminded me of “Home Alone” with its grand entrance. When entering the house there is a warm relaxed feeling from the beautiful renovated decor and attention to detail furnishings. Our room was a very large bedroom the “autumn” room with views out of the front of the property. A very comfy bed with all the little extras you don’t always get with a b&b; toiletries, selection of teas/coffees, bathrobes and helpful crib sheets with timings for breakfast on etc. The room was spotlessly clean.
Highgate house is located so close to town it took us 3 mins to walk to the main shops and restaurants. The location was perfect as no need for taxis or driving.
Polly and Andy the owners were so accommodating and the breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit on the table when we arrived and tea and coffee with a very tasty cooked breakfast and a perfect pouched egg (thank you Polly!).
I would absolutely recommend Highgate house and will definitely be returning.

    Thank you Polly and Andy!

  • Absolutely AMAZING!!!

A beautiful georgian house, lovingly restored with a modern but sympathetic style. Polly and her lovely daughter could not have been more welcoming! We stayed in the Winter room with a gorgeous four poster bed with a very comfy mattress. The attention to detail throughout the whole place was amazing and the breakfast room was beautiful. Breakfast itself was scrummy and nothing was too much trouble!! I really did not want to leave, this place is a little slice of heaven! They even provide a beautiful garden for guests to use (which in Whitby is a rare thing, and even the garden furniture is tasteful. I honestly can't say enough about how wonderful the Highgate House is, and we will definately be returning!!!
Thank you so much for everything!
    Warm regards

  • Bliss!

A lovely welcome from Polly and Andy at what can only described as a stunning Victorian house decorated to a high standard keeping all its Victorian beauty.
We stayed in the spring room. Beautiful ensuite large room.
Breakfast for the weekend is a full English which is tasty.. service perfect. I cannot say how wonderful this place is. YOU MUST TRY IT!

  • Wonderful First Trip

My wife and I recently moved to the UK; our first getaway was to Whitby. We chose to stay at The Highgate House based on Trip Adviser reviews. It turned out to be as we hoped. The home is a beautiful and warm place to stay. We stayed 2 nights and our hostess, Polly, could not have been kinder. She went out of her way to make us any type of breakfast we desired and to spend time with us discussing the area. She made wonderful recommendations for local sights and nearby drives. We stayed n the Summer Room and the accommodations were lovely and superbly decorated. We highly recommend staying at the Highgate House.

  • Excellent relaxing stay.

This is a beautiful house decorated to a very high standard and offering a perfect stay in the centre of Whitby.
We stayed in the lovely Spring room which was very comfortable, light and had everything to ensure a perfect stay.Breakfast good and plentiful. ..nothing too much trouble for Polly who was on hand to replenish the well stocked table of continental foods...cheeses,cold meats, cereals, fruit, boiled eggs, smoked salmon, yoghurt and pastries etc
Would definately recommend. .....and hopefully will return.
Polly our host was so friendly and did all she could to help make our break a special one.

  • Wonderful break

Stayed here for 3 nights last week , had a marvellous time . The whole house is immaculately presented and is stunningly decorated.
Our room was really big and comfortable.
Breakfast was wonderful with lots of choices according to the husband as I chose to lie in rather than eat breakfast .
Positioned opposite Penant park and a short steep way from the town .
Polly and Andy are very friendly and helpful .
