WELCOME TO THE BUCK

A family run pub in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, The Buck Inn is perfect for leisure stays or business bookings alike. Situated amongst some of the most picturesque rural landscapes in the U.K, you will find us in the traditional farming village of Malham. Whether you want a relaxing location for a romantic weekend, an energetic escape from urban life or just a treat for the family, from the moment you arrive, you will feel the warm welcome of Malham and wonder at the spectacular countryside.

OUR HISTORY

Built in 1874 on the site of an old coaching inn on the Pennine way, The Buck has 10 en-suite bedrooms and is within walking distance of the enchanting Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Janet’s Foss and Gordale Scar and has been featured on Julia Bradbury's Best Walks with a View and Adrian Edmonson's The Dales.

EXPLORE THE YORKSHIRE DALES

The Buck is conveniently located in the centre of the village, and just a 30-minute drive from the A65. Guests looking to explore the local area are within an easy drive of historic market town of Skipton, known as 'the Gateway to the Dales' and home to Skipton Castle amongst other attractions. Bolton Abbey, Settle and Ingleton are a similar distance, offering sight seeing and leisure opportunities aplenty. In the immediate area, visitors can take in the sites of Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Janets Foss & Gordale Scar in bite size chunks or tackle the lot and really make a day of it. There really is something for everyone at The Buck.

  • Second visit

We last visited here in Oct 2016 with our youngest son. This time we swapped our son for our puppy

The service was friendly and efficient. The food was of a very good std. And we enjoyed our lunch.

Afterwards a walk to Goredale Scar and Janets Foss waterfall

  • Malham what a hidden gem

Stayed at the buck to walk malham cove gordale scar etc great walk great place a lot of character around the small village. 1 bad point is a meal can cost £14.99 so not the cheapest but a groupon voucher gets you dinner and breakfast included in the price. Dog friendly rooms available all in all great place to stay

  • Walk with Family and Dog

Had a walk to Malham Tarn. Very busy place as a bank holiday. Weather beautiful and on way back to car we stopped at The Buck Inn. Sat outside, cider and Timothy Taylor’s beer. Lunch of one roast dinner, a ploughman’s, chicken pie and mash plus beef pie and chips. Excellent. Lovely service, food good, nothing not to like. Dog happy as water for her and titbits from us.

  • Boom! A fab stay!

Stayed here for 1 night with my sister and was not disappointed. A warm welcome by Charlotte and our room was perfect! Nice and cozy, comfy bed and a hot shower! Food was delicious throughout, hot, well presented and very tasty! Breakfast was served by Catherine who greeted us with a lovely smile and served breakfast well. A lovely thank you to Karen the owner who is as always happy to see any guest. A lovely warm fire constantly burning is a welcome for everyone! Thank you all so much for a lovely stay you are a great team!

  • Nice overnight stay

After over 19 miles walk from Cowling, due to a navigational error on the Pennine way walk I arrived at about 7.30 pm in the charming village of Malham and booked into the hotel.
My accommodation was fine and after freshening up came for a very pleasant evening meal in the bar before retiring. Breakfast the next day was very nice so all in all a nice stop.

  • Buck the trend...

Buck the trend is certainly the ethos of this exceptional public house in Malham. Excellent ale, the Golden Ale from the Timothy Tayler's Brewery is kept and served to perfection. The food after any day in this landscape is much appreciated. The lamb shank is unbelievable but believe me the food is outstanding. The service is brilliant and efficient. Anyone that can appreciate the landscape will appreciate the Buck Inn. Thank you one and all, a great end to a great day in a great county
