  • Four of us sat down in the Quayside and all enjoyed the best fish and chips imaginable. Real chips, superb fresh haddock, and moreish mushy peas. Add in a 'strong ' pot of tea with crusty bread and butter, and I'm unsure if you could beat it on chilly Saturday after noon. Our friends from Suffolk were near delerious with the quality in every respect. The staff, none over 25 I reckon, were the epitome of fantastic service staff. Everyone so kean to please, then so lovely to wish us well on our way....Proud to be a Yorkshireman with this offering, and our Suffolk friends could see why. Yorkborn

  • Don't try the rest, this is the best!
We've had takeaway fish and chips from Quayside before, and also eaten in the restaurant a few years ago. So, on a cold day it was an obvious choice for us. Although it was a busy Saturday afternoon with fine sunshine bringing day trippers to Whitby, we didn't have to wait long for a table.

The young staff were very efficient, and brought our cod, chips and mushy peas quickly. I had a large fish, while my wife was able to order a smaller portion (I noticed that the customers on an adjacent table asked to share one large portion between two, and were provided with an extra plate - excellent service).

The fish was fresh, white and tasty, the batter crisp and not at all oily, and the chips were just right. There is a varied menu that includes grilled sea bass and other healthier options -maybe next time!

  • The only place we go to in Whitby for fish and chips
The Quayside is our chosen restaurant (or takeaway) for fish and chips every time we come to Whitby. Even on those busy summer days or bank holidays we'd rather queue than try somewhere else.

Our most recent visit to Whitby was no different. After a short walk around Whitby we decided to make a beeline for the Quayside, this time choosing to eat in the restaurant as the weather was wet, cold and windy.

We were seated quickly and our order was taken not long afterwards. We both opted for fish and chips but differed on the size, one ordering a small and the other ordering a regular. When our food was served we were both happy with our portion sizes and the quality did not disappoint. The fish is cooked well and not overly greasy, the chips are so tasty and the gravy is the finishing touch.

The staff as always are polite and friendly, we've never had any complaints about the service or the food.

If you haven't been to the Quayside before, we'd strongly recommend you try it.

Keep up the good work Quayside, we might not be able to squeeze in another visit before the end of this year so if not we'll be seeing you in 2018.

  • Delicious chips
We got a portion of chips each from the takeaway section (£1.90 for a decent portion). They were delicious, nice and fresh but a good crispiness too. We’d definitely go back again if we’re in Whitby.
