  • We stayed on this working farm on short notice in the top field for tents, we loved it! We were the only tent campers there that weekend. Great back to basics camping, reminded me of childhood camping trips. Beautiful countryside, plenty of wildlife, lovely walks down to the waterfall, into Goathland village, and to the station to see the steam train. Dog friendly. The owners were very friendly and helpful even though they were very busy with lambing! We had a roaring campfire with logs from the farmer. The facilities were perfectly adequate for our needs. We will definitely return! Julie, Hull

  • Had an ace time - used to live near a farm and used to work on it as a teenager, so it was like being home! Loved the campfire too. I will be back on a regular basis next year - at least once a month, hopefully! Thanx Mich, whitby

  • Located on the southern slopes of the moor outside of Goathland. The site itself was originally used as Greengrass's Farm from the TV series 'Heartbeat' and you are a leisurely 10 minute walk from Goathland (or Aidensfield, or Hogsmeade [it was used for Harry potter too], you choose).

Even with the recent rain the scenery was beautiful as ever & Surprisingly the field was not as boggy as to be expected (but not their fault, Obviously!). Toilets and shower block, although not 5* they're hospitable (don't forget to take your own loo roll!)

The site owners, the Jacksons (local farmers), were helpful, lovely and friendly. At night you can have a campfire. The other campers & caravanners can be lively and this sometimes didn't die down till the early hours of the morning.

The resident Gypsy is a character full off tattoos very big awesome man but very helpful an polite.

Frequently you'll find a pallet full of scrap wood for campfires. They should call the place Ronseal, cos it is what is says on the tin, a farmers field! If you want luxury, free hot water, excellent TV/radio reception, club house, regular deliveries from Asda/Tesco's etc then this place is definitely not for you!

We went for good, down-to-earth camping and definitely got it here. Worth every penny of the £5 pppn, bargain!

Lots to do in the surrounding area. 10 min drive from Whitby, 15 mins Robin Hoods Bay. 20 - 25 min to Pickering, add another 10 mins to Eden Camp at Malton. All of the above have a fantastic Olde Worlde feel about them.

A 20 minute walk to the Goathland Hotel ('Aidensfield Arms') and Scripps plus the North Yorkshire Moors Railway station (also Hogsmeade in Harry Potter), picturesque views everywhere you go. Unbelievable walking area too.

Even sat in your tent, its like being sat inside your own relaxing window on the world with rolling? moorland all around, peaceful & serene.

Downside? Because of the location, the local shops stock primarily touristy stuff, mainly 'Heartbeat' related but who can blame them. Everyday items can be pricey if you can find them (cleverly located at the back of the shops). A trip to Whitby, Pickering or even Malton is normally on the cards for stocking up on the essentials.

All things considered, even with the terrible rain, we had a marvellous time. We'll definitely be back and hope the rain will be have abated too. Fantastic with the National Park around you. A welcoming & homely place away from the tedium of life.

  • Brilliant friendly family site, the one you want to come back to time after time. This will be the eighth year we have been and we still see some friends we made there the first time. An ideal place to use as a holiday base and also to relax and revive yourselves, look forward to going every time. chris and carol Brown, Scunthorpe
