Copper Beech Glade @ Markington Hall

Across the arched stone bridge and past the 18th century water mill you enter the Copper Beech Glade.

Against a backdrop of ancient birch, sycamore, oak and of course copper beech trees you will find our colourful trio of gypsy caravans circling the ample fire pit, plus a fully equipped colonial style log cabin.

Our gypsy caravans are named Bella, Carmen and Rosita.

Nestled under a canopy of mature trees the caravans look out across the glade to the River Robert (well it’s actually more like a stream and called the beck!! ).

To the right is a large lawned expanse where there is provision for various sports including football, croquet, badminton and boules. For the more adventurous following the beck up stream is a wild area where children are welcome to play, paddle and build dens.

The log cabin is to the left of the site and contains living space, cooking facilities and a shower is adjacent to the cabin.

On arrival guests will find a ‘hamper’ containing fresh bread, free range eggs, milk, tea and sugar, a bottle of wine and homemade shortbread.

The cabin also stocks a range of spices, ketchup, oil vinegar and condiments.

A breakfast hamper containing sausages, black pudding, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans ( or variations of the above )can be ordered and provided from locally sourced produce, for an additional price.

A composting toilet is located at the other end of the site approx. 50 yards from the living area.

The Copper Beech Glade is part of a diversification programme to generate funds to continue the renovation works. Rather than do a run of the mill Band B we decided to do something that would appeal to the romantic and adventurous in us all.
