About Catgill Campsite

The campsite set within the Yorkshire Dales National Park is within a mile of Bolton Abbey and the river Wharfe. From Bolton Abbey the Dalesway footpath winds its way along the river passing through picturesque towns and villages such as Ilkley, Burnsall and Grassington. Only a few miles away lies the busy market town of Skipton, Gateway to the Dales.

A walker's paradise with much to explore and lots to do for families including Hesketh Farm Park and the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Factory both just a stones throw away. The popular Devonshire Arms is within 15 minutes walk along a beautiful country footpath. “The Dev” is the perfect place for a summers evening; with outdoor seating, good food and local beers. The area boasts many good restaurants and coffee shops, a variety of shopping opportunities and many local seasonal events.

Established in 2014, the campsite has a brand new shower block with hot showers, washbasins and toilets including a dedicated disabled/family room in both male and female washrooms. A separate facility provides sinks for pot washing and 2 large communal fridge freezers. There is a small shop selling a few basic essentials and our ever-popular fire pits are available to hire on request.

The campsite itself is part of a traditional Yorkshire farm with spectacular views across the Wharfe valley. With a small stream meandering through the site Catgill is a beautiful and peaceful setting in which to relax, the perfect place for a memorable stay in the Yorkshire Dales.

  • We stayed in one of the new pods overnight. We had paid extra £25 for the hot tub to be warmed up for arrival, it wasn't! The owner wasn't apologetic and just refunded us the money showing no remorse not even a gesture of good will. After waiting 3 hours for the hot tub to be heated up we spent an hour in it. Given no instructions on how to work the hot tub we put some more logs on, it heated up way too much, the water was scalding hot, no way to cool it down so we couldn't use it for the rest of the evening! We got up at 7am to start the hot tub again for the owner to say we weren't allowed to light it as it's in the terms and conditions, it needs to be cleaned out for the next person. This guy is diluded you would expect to use all the facilities untill check out at 11am. As it was my partners birthday we had to book into a local spa that day as we left early we couldn't stand another minute there being looked down on and made to feel uncomfortable. The owner was rude and obnoxious I wouldn't stay there ever again waste of money only had an hour in the hot tub and that was the main reason we went!! Joanne Louise Eastwood, Huddersfield
