Set in North Yorkshire close to the Yorkshire Dales, The Black Bull is in an ideal location for visiting both the Dales and the North York Moors.

Middleham is famous for it's racehorses and several stables surround the village. On mornings, tourists are usually treated to a magnificent sight of the horses coming past the pub on their way to training on the gallops.

We can also offer excellent fishing from the two local rivers, the Ure and the Cover.

Middleham Castle is in the centre of the village and was once the ancient seat for administering the North of England and was the childhood home of Richard III.

Middleham is a perfect base for families with Forbidden Corner just two miles away and it is very popular with children of all ages!

The Black Bull is a very traditional pub, specialising in traditional beers, ciders and lagers. In summer there are tables out on the front for people to sit on and in winter there are real coal fires to keep you warm in the restaurant and bar.

We offer both restaurant and bar meals serving traditional homecooked food, sourced locally at reasonable prices.

Reviews

  • Well what can we say….

Fabulous pub, hosts, staff, rooms & breakfast. But the star of the show without a doubt was Oscar our breakfast waiter who did a grand job.

    Will definitely be back.

    Thanks guys.

  • New management has transformed this pub! We stayed over Easter, great rooms, clean and comfortable and recently refurbished. Very good breakfast, filled us up for most of the day! Fantastic food by the new Head Chef Richard, always happy to talk through what he was serving that day, the menu changes daily which is rare anywhere with a great choice. Good local beer, one of the best selections of white and red wine we have seen for years. All the staff were friendly and happy, great place, great pub! Simon Pickett, Heacham
