Rotherham
Home > Rotherham | Recently, a number of projects have been taken on to give Rotherham town centre a 'face-lift', making it a premiere attraction in the town. Street entertainment and shopping facilities complement the revitalisation of the historic canalside. All saint's square was given a make-over in 2000 and is now a popular destination for all of Rotherham's habitants and visitors. The 'New Centenary Market' also benefited from the augmentations to the town. |
| Five minutes from the town centre, Clifton Park is a 56 acre site surrounding the Clifton Park Museum. The Museum was once the home of the Walker family, from whom the council acquired the land. Built in 1783, the wonderfully preserved house contains a large collection of pottery from the famous Rockingham Works. Added to this, are the fine examples of glass pieces from C18 to present day, and many archaelogical treasures. The Earth centre offers 26 acres of beautiful parkland with many outdoor activities and an award winning cafe/restaurant. |
| Located in the Rotherham Arts Centre, the Rotherham Gallery possesses an abundance of artistic styles on display ranging from contemporary photography to beautiful Victorian paintings. You may also take in one of the many temporary exhibitions that the gallery presents throughout the year. Due to the new face-lift there are many hotels offering first class accommodation and guest houses and bed and breakfasts offer a great retreat for a night or two. There are self-catering facilities in and outside of Rotherham offering competitive prices. |
| A must see in Rotherham, and newly opened, is the impressive 'Magna centre', a science centre exploring the earth's elements. By travelling through four adventure pavillions Earth, Air, Water and Fire you may gain hands on experience of nature's powerful forces. Whether it be whizzing around in the Air's gyroscopic chair or taking control of Earth's genuine JCB digger, fun is guaranteed! Surely the star attraction, however, must be 'O2', the country's first inflatable restaurant! Designed by Per Lindstrand , the manufacturer of Richard Branson's balloons, the eatery follows the elemental theme into its menu with dishes ranging from hot chilli to Mississippi mud pie. Located north east of Sheffield, Rotherham is a thriving town with its won railway station and excellent raod links. |
