 | Doncaster's world famous racecourse has been a major venue for racing since 1600 and from 1776 has held the coveted St. Leger, one of the oldest great English classic horse races of all time. With eighteen bars and restaurants on offer an entertaining, exciting and (if you are feeling lucky), prosperous day can be had by all. Cusworth Hall accommodates The Museum of South Yorkshire Life, set in extensive landscaped parklands; it depicts the changing social lives of local people over the last 250 years. Another country house worth visiting is Brodsworth Hall & Gardens; this Victorian home was first open to the public in 1995. The spectacular circular keep of Conisbrough Castle makes it one of the oldest and finest medieval buildings in England, it is open all year round to the public. |
